About Sole Travelers

Rooted in the Deep South, Sole Travelers blend a special mix of Southern Americana, Blues, musical virtuosity, great tunes, and powerful performances to pave a road which leads to a place where we all belong.

Drawing from a pool of original tunes, works by great songwriters such as John Hiatt, Willie Dixon, and favorite tunes by under-recognized artists from and around the South, Sole Travelers deliver a tasty repertoire.

Jeanie Edwards - Vocals

Sole Travelers

Following in her daddy's footsteps, vowing to keep his music alive, Jeanie is serving up a soulful blend of blues with just a pinch of country in her voice.  She can be soft and sultry or knock your socks off with her powerful dynamic range. It's a big voice that comes out of this little woman. Dynamite comes in small packages. After cutting her teeth singing to captured audiences on the Prison Ministry Circuit, Jeanie found a home with Sole Travelers.

Mike Edwards

Sole Travelers

Singer/Songwriter/Slide Guitar/Harmonica/Lead Guitar

Considered by some to be one of the top living Slide Guitarists, Mike was born in New Orleans, raised in the South, Mike travelled the world seeking adventure and fortune after cutting his teeth playing throughout the South.

Travelling to Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington in the 90's, Mike found inspiration on the opposite corner of the continent in the performances and tunes by Pacific Northwest greats. Mike concurs, "Something out there struck a spark to fire up my potential. The first show I saw was Curtis Salgado and the Stillettos, then the Terraplanes, Duffy Bishop Band, The Lloyd Jones Struggle, then Henry Cooper; and on a slow night, I saw Curtis Salgado doing an acoustic blues duo with Terry Robb. Then I saw Tim Langford with Too Slim and the Tail Draggers and I was a believer."

Subsequent years living in Singapore exposed Mike to playing Blues with great musicians from Australia, Europe and Asia.

Upon returning home to the Southern United States, Mike found he had forged his own sound from the diverse Blues styles he encountered along his path. After 15 years with King muDDfish and two nominations for Best Self-Produced Blues CD at the IBC, Mike spread his musical horizons putting together Sole Travelers with his wife Jeanie.
